About the Creative Arts Contest

The goal of the St. Clair County Community Mental Health Creative Arts Contests is to help educate both young people and adults about the value of connecting mind and body for individuals who live with mental illnesses, intellectual / developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders.


About the High School Writing Contest

2021 Art Contest Theme: Hope Lives Here

Entries must be the original, individual, hand created work of a St. Clair County student in grades 9-12. Entries may be in any medium other than digital / computer generated. Only one entry per student.

A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner will be selected from all countywide entries with prizes of $150, $100, and $75 respectively. A Best in Show winner will receive a prize of $350. The People’s Choice award winner will receive a cash award of $75. The Best in Show artwork will be featured in the SCCCMH Annual Report, website, billboards, and other items throughout the year.

About the Middle School Writing Contest

2021 Writing Contest Theme: Hope Lives Here

Entries must be the original, individual, work of a St. Clair County student in grades 6-8. The Writing Contest has three categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction & Poetry. Fiction and non-fiction entries are limited to 500 words. There is no word limit on poetry entries. Students may enter one submission in each of the three categories.

A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cash prize will be awarded in each category. First place winners will receive a $100 cash award, 2nd place winners will receive a $75 cash award, and 3rd place winners will receive a $50 cash award. The Grand Prize Winner, selected from all three categories, will receive a $250 cash award.

The writing will be used to promote Mental Health Awareness throughout St. Clair County. The “Grand Prize Winner” winning submission will be included in the SCCCMH Annual Report.

About the Elementary School Bookmark Contest

2021 Bookmark Theme: Be Kind
Entries must be the original, individual, art work of a St. Clair County student in K-5. Only one entry per student. One winner will be selected for each grade level (K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th). The design should reflect how being kind to others is important. Winners will be judged on originality, creativity, neatness, and printability. Winners will have their bookmark printed and distributed to participating schools in St. Clair County.
