St. Clair County CMH joined its neighbors on the southside of Port Huron for the 24th Annual Southside Jazz & Blues Festival on July 18, 2010, sponsoring an information table and distributing CMH ballcaps and beachballs. The festival featured Gypsy Moth, 18-year veterans of the local rock scene; one-man band Christian Beshore from Philadelphia, simultaneously playing drums and his handmade electric box guitar; Arkansas-born blues guitarist and singer Dale Beavers, Real Detroit Weekly's Best Blues Musician, 2010; the Dan Plisko Trio, featuring Plisko on bass, a vet of the Detroit jazz scene going back to 1951, who has played with local luminaries like pianists Bess Bonier and Charles Boles, trumpeters Johnny Trudell and Tom Saunders, tenor sax player George Benson, and countless others; and The Volumes, a doo-wop/R&B band formed in Detroit in 1960 that scored its only hit in 1962 with "I Love You" on Chex Records, which rose to 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. Rain and lightning cut short The Volumes set, but it was a fine afternoon of music and comraderie.
